JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Cambria County Transit Authority approved nearly $200,000 in upgrades to its headquarters in Johnstown’s Woodvale section Friday.
That includes replacing an old, above-ground vehicle lift that was brought over from the CamTran Ebensburg facility 10 years ago – as well as updates to parts of the building’s second floor, CamTran Executive Director Rose Lucey-Noll said.
Among five payments totaling $198,240 approved Friday were $49,780 to Williamsport-based furnishing company Supply Source and $44,620 to Kimball International to replace desks and other decades-old furniture that predates the Maple Avenue center’s construction, she said.
“When we built the (facility), there was a lot of old furniture that was never replaced,” she said.
Work was also conducted on a “spare” second- floor room to renovate the space for a human resources department and training room.
Other contracts include:
• $26,500 to Johnstown-based Tercek Electric for lighting upgrades.
• $18,969.65 to Metal Works for office renovations.
• $58,371 to Maryland-based Steril-Koni for the vehicle lift. Steril-Koni’s website shows the company manufactures heavy-duty, above-ground lift systems designed to lift buses and other large vehicles.
CamTran’s maintenance department is tasked with keeping the nonprofit’s fleet of urban and rural buses operating smoothly every day.
CamTran’s 45 bus shelters across the region are being recoated, authority officials said Friday.
Lucey-Noll said the shelters were powder-coated at least 15 years ago and were in need of improvements.
The shelters are being repainted one at a time, off-site, in both the urban and rural areas, she said.
